Billing and Payments

How pricing works, when cards are charged, and what to check when a payment fails.

KiteCourier uses a two-step payment flow so successful mail is what gets charged.

Pricing basics

Your letter cost depends on:

  • the USPS Certified Mail base rate,
  • included pages versus additional pages,
  • print settings such as single-sided or double-sided output, and
  • optional services such as return receipt.

How payment processing works

  1. Authorization: the card is authorized for the expected total when you submit the letter.
  2. Capture: the charge is captured after the letter is accepted for mailing.
  3. Release: if the letter cannot be sent, the authorization is released or refunded automatically.

Troubleshoot payment failures

Card declined

  • Check available balance or credit.
  • Confirm the card is not expired.
  • Verify your bank did not block the transaction.
  • Retry with another payment method if needed.

Invalid card details

  • Re-enter the card number carefully.
  • Confirm expiration date and CVV.
  • Make sure the billing ZIP code matches the card record.

Unexpected processing error

  • Wait about a minute before retrying.
  • Check whether the charge already appears on the statement.
  • Refresh the page and try again.

Accepted payment methods

KiteCourier accepts major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
